Buying LEGO on Mercari: Tips for Finding the Best Deals

If you're looking to save money on LEGO sets (or any other brand of bricks), Mercari (Clicking this link will get you $10 off your first purchase) is one of the most overlooked places to shop. While many people immediately think of eBay or Facebook Marketplace, I've found that Mercari can be an excellent source for retired LEGO sets, used LEGO collections, sealed sets, minifigures, and even discounted alternative brick sets.
That said, there are a few things you should know before clicking "Buy."
a Few Tips:
Look for sellers with multiple Lego listings. This reassures you they understand the value of a complete set, how to package them, and maybe buying a couple of them together for a discount!
Always read the description carefully! Not every listing is complete. Some are missing the box, instructions, or mini figures. These details are in the description!
Pay attention to seller ratings. Look for high overall ratings, plenty of completed sales, and positive comments mentioning accurate descriptions and fast shipping.
Don’t ignore used Lego. If you have long winter evenings and enjoy a bit of a longer Lego project, you can get some insane deals because not a lot of people are willing to search for each piece or organize them.
Be patient. Hit the “like” button and follow the sale. Will you lose some? Yes. But sometimes, the seller will offer discounts to just those who have saved their listing or Mercari will alert you when it has dropped price.
Compare prices before you buy. Just because it’s on Mercari doesn’t automatically make it a bargain. If you toggle over to the “sold” section, you can look at what other sets have sold for.
